vision for tomorrow
I am a United States Air Force Veteran, member of American Legion Post 165, and founder of the Vacaville Veterans Hometown Hero Program. I have a unique combination of education, business experience, and nonprofit service covering a 35-year span. I bring years of experience in negotiating with federal, state, county, and local agencies to serve the residents of Vacaville. I am the Founder and Executive Director of We Love Our City, a service-driven nonprofit. As your public servant, I want to continue to ensure your public safety, public funds, public schools, and public parks are everything the residents of Vacaville deserve.
As Vice Mayor of the City of Vacaville, I currently serve the city in a number of capacities and council assignments. I serve on the City of Vacaville Audit Review committee for the city’s 200,000 million dollar budget. I am a member fo the Travis Regional Armed Forces Committee, Citizens Advisory Committee for the California State Prisons, Vacaville/Fairfield Greenbelt Authority, Solano Transportation Authority, and Solano Water Authority. I also serve on a committee with 2 Solano County Supervisors to address the needs of the homeless in Solano County. Proudly endorsed by Vacaville Firefighters and Police Officers Associations.
After a tour of duty in the United States Air Force I attended college and graduated with a seminary degree. In 1982, I began my ministry career in Texas. Stepping out into the private sector nearly eighteen years later, I relocated to Napa and started a successful executive recruiting and training service for the 5 largest real estate
franchise companies in America. In 2007, I sold the company and returned to ministry at The Father’s House, where I currently serve as the Director of Community Outreach for the Vacaville, Napa, and East Bay locations. As Director, I started the “We Love Our City” nonprofit to address hunger, poverty, and social injustice while working to establish lasting civic partnerships in the surrounding communities. In addition to overseeing the Vacaville, Napa, and East Bay Storehouse food pantries, I work to maintain a variety of programs in these areas, including Adopt A Block, Adopt A School, Youth After School Program, Book Mobile, Mobile Medical Clinic, Community Garden, and Graffiti Abatement.
I enjoy golf and aviation, but my greatest joy is my family. My wife Kim and I recently celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary. We have 2 adult children and 6 amazing grandchildren. I deeply value my close ties with the community and look forward to working hard for the residents of our beloved city. With heart for today and vision for tomorrow, together we can preserve and continue to develop Vacaville as the city we love.
I look forward to bringing my years of experience in negotiating with federal, state, county, and city agencies to serve the residents of Vacaville. Building consensus and identifying the issues behind the positions allows progress toward creating solutions for everyone. Whether it is Affordable Housing, Education, Job Development, Public Safety, Open Space or Transportation Issues, partnerships are essential to the solution.
